Airports Acquire More Scintec Radar Wind Profilers

Scintec delivered eight additional LAP®3000 radar wind profilers to major airports in 2024. These include Hong Kong International Airport, Gimpo and Jeju International Airports in South Korea, Juneau International Airport in Alaska under the supervision and guidance of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Hang Nadim International Airport Batam in Indonesia. Meteorologists and air traffic controllers increasingly appreciate the significant contribution radar wind profilers make to the safety and efficiency of landing and departure operations. No other technology is capable of continuously providing upper-air wind data under all weather conditions. The LAP series radar wind profilers were originally developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and are being supplied by Scintec in their third technical generation.
